RE: Seneca front TV?

I have a 2006 34SS and wanted to get the largest HDTV that would fit into the Senaca's Entertainment Center. By removing the bottom wooden retaining strip and and some other minor reworking, I was able to install a 32" Sony Bravia HDTV. Superb picture and it looks like it was made for that space. If you are interested in seeing a picture of the installed unit, you can click on the link in my Signature. (below)

RE: New Jayco Seneca 34SS

Has anyone purchased yours with the entertainment center above the cab rather than the bed? I am very disappointed that the entertainment center is non-operable when the vehicle is running. Is there a way around this problem? On my 2006 Seneca 34SS, there are two 12v wires (purple I think) that go into a module on the back of the 120v outlet that supplies power to the Entertainment Center. Cut and tape either of these (NOT the wires that feed 120v the outlet!!) and the outlet will be powered by the inverter even when the ignition is on. Good luck ~

RE: Bigfoot Super C on Kodiak chassis

BNFY ~ Bigfoot 35' is well built and has a great reputation. That said, two years ago (and now 14,000 miles later) we went through the same decision, and opted for the Seneca 34SS. Here are some of the reasons why: - Getting in and out of the cockpit from the LR is much easier for me (6'2") with the Seneca's recess in front of the Entertainment Center. - Seneca offers Full Body Paint, Bigfoot does not. - We have found the Seneca's slide out pantry shelves to be more functional than having the larger refrigerator w/ water dispenser. (Many people opt for bottled water for safety reasons.) - Jayco has many dealers nationwide, while Bigfoot only has a few. - There is a big difference in price, and while Bigfoot may have the edge in quality, we have found Jayco to be very good. Also, unless you plan to do some heavy duty winter camping, the Seneca insulation is more than adequate. Bottom line, while both are very nice coaches, the I feel the Seneca gives you the best bang for the buck. You can then take the money you save and buy extras for your new rig. If you are interested, you can click on the link in my signature to see some of the Bigfoot like modifications we have made too our 34SS. Good luck with whichever one you decide....they are both great rigs.

RE: New Jayco Seneca 34SS

It doesn't come with a spare and apparently a spare will not fit in to any of the storage compartments. Congratulations on your new 34SS....you are going to love it. I have a 2006 34SS and we have a spare tire laying on its side on the hump of the first pass-thru storage compartment aft of the entry stairs. Unless Jayco has made that compartment smaller in 2008, it will fit without a problem. No mounting, just slide it in. We went 7,000 miles to Alaska and back without it moving. As far as your request for "suggestions for accessorizing the unit" you might want to click on the Upgrade Pictures link below for a few ideas. Good luck ~

RE: Pomona RV Show

We went to the big annual RV show in October and thought it was worth a 700 mile trip. Pomona is a very comprehensive show......certainly the biggest in the western United States. Not only do they have a excellent selection of RV's, the aftermarket for RV accessories and upgrades is well represented. Easy freeway access, good parking, and a shuttle service make getting around the large complex easy. Here's a link for next October's event. Click here

RE: Duramax Diesel Milage

MFA and Ron ~ I don't mean to hijack this thread, but if you are using a computer to track mileage, another easy way to do this and much, much more is the RVer's Notebook This software provides a great compendium of all your RV related expenses, stats, a trip log, campground information, service records and maintenance schedules, and even a vehicle weight distribution tool. In addition, a set of "on screen" or "printable" reports provide summary and line item detail information of all your expenses, cost of upgrades, miles driven, MPG, Cost/Gallon, Cost/Mile, etc. I have found it to be a very handy and easy to use program.

RE: Duramax Diesel Milage

In that case, anyone want to make the arguement FOR diesel? Mileage isn't everything, but at 10.5 MPG@55MPH I'm satisfied with mine. In addition, the added torque of a diesel makes a big difference in real world driving. And finally, I wouldn't want to be driving any 35' motorhome on steep mountain roads without an Exhaust Brake. The extra safety in handling it provides, and the money saved on fewer brake repairs should not be overlooked.

RE: Seneca, Tune & Towing

When looking at EGT gauges, you might want to consider the ISSPRO “Red Pointer” series. ISSPRO EGT I installed one on my Seneca 34SS and chose this model because it’s color temperature bands make for easy reading at a glance. Click Here for pictures of the modified dash, and then click Full View (to the right of the pictures) to start the slideshow.

RE: Class "C" vs. Super "C"

You didn't say why you are "irritated" with the Super C market, but if you can get passed that Jayco's 36FS with bunk beds would seem to be a great solution for your family. Lots of storage and the kids love having their own space. These are great rigs to drive and with a 53 degree turning radius they maneuver and ride well (get Bilstein shocks) even on some of Alaska's rough roads. Jayco Seneca 36FS Good luck in your search ~

RE: Another Seneca Q...

Beave My first suggestion is the easiest way to go if you want BOTH TV's to be fed by the same "in motion" Satellite receiver. Disconnect the existing coax running from your satellite receiver output to your front TV and reconnect the TV end to the input of a 2 -way splitter. Cut the coax going to the bedroom TV at the Winegard "crank up" antenna booster, and add a F connector to this end. Connect the bedroom TV coax to the #2 output of the splitter. Connect #1 output of the splitter to the front TV with a new 6' length of coax (i.e. Radio Shack) with F connectors on both ends. Now BOTH TV's are fed buy your satellite receiver and will be on the same DirecTV channel (Don't forget to tune the bedroom TV to channel 3 or 4 and use the satellite remote to select the programming for both sets) Hope that helps.

RE: Another Seneca Q...

Beave ~ If memory serves, the bedroom TV coax is attached to the Winegard Antenna Booster located in the forward Entertainment Center. If you only want to run the bedroom TV on the satellite you can cut the bedroom coax at the booster, add a F connector to the end, and connect this to the #2 output of a splitter from your satellite receiver output. The #1 output would connect to the front TV. (Don't forget to tune the bedroom TV to channel 3 or 4 and use the satellite remote to select your programming) If you want to be able to use the bedroom TV from both the outside "crank up" antenna and the satellite you will need to install an A/B switch to the bedroom coax that can switch between to two sources.(Winegard booster or splitter from the satellite receiver) Good luck
